COURSE DESCRIPTION

Last week, we looked at how to create simple effects in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. This week, we do the same thing for Apple Final Cut Pro X.

Join host, Larry Jordan, as he illustrates how to create simple effects from the six different categories of effects in Final Cut Pro X:

This webinar starts at the beginning and illustrates effects from all of these categories. Along the way, we also cover:

If you are new to Final Cut, or have a friend that’s new to the software, or if you just want a refresher course on the basics, this session is for you. It covers all the basics and gives you a solid understanding of how everything works.

  1. Hi Larry,
thanks for all the great content!
I have one reoccurring problem with transitions: When I apply a transition, for example to a text layer, it will also affect the layers below it. Those could be other text layers or the main video. Is this an FCPX bug and is there a fix for this?
    thanks in advance,
    David

      David:

Yeah… this isn’t a bug, per se, but how the transitions were first designed in Motion. Remember that most effects in FCP X are actually Motion templates. When whoever first designed these created them in Motion, they failed to take into account that most transition are applied to a higher layer, so they designed the template to make all lower layers transparent.

These can be “fixed” by copying the transition then modifying it in Motion. I did this for a couple transitions that I needed, but found it wasn’t worth the work to convert all of them.
