thanks for all the great content!
I have one reoccurring problem with transitions: When I apply a transition, for example to a text layer, it will also affect the layers below it. Those could be other text layers or the main video. Is this an FCPX bug and is there a fix for this?

Yeah… this isn’t a bug, per se, but how the transitions were first designed in Motion. Remember that most effects in FCP X are actually Motion templates. When whoever first designed these created them in Motion, they failed to take into account that most transition are applied to a higher layer, so they designed the template to make all lower layers transparent.
These can be “fixed” by copying the transition then modifying it in Motion. I did this for a couple transitions that I needed, but found it wasn’t worth the work to convert all of them.
