You start with a good image – then you make it look even better with visual effects like fires, light leaks, or degraded film looks. And all of these require blend modes to look right.

In this online webinar, host Larry Jordan uses both Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Apple Final Cut Pro X to explain what blend modes are and how to use them to enhance text and images. Then, he showcases light leaks, transitions, fires and degraded film looks using products from LightLeakLove and Rampant Design Tools.

In this short video excerpt, Larry illustrates how to use blend modes with gradients to enhance exterior wide shots. This demo uses Final Cut, but the effect works exactly the same in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
