The Status of Cloud-based Production – A DPP Report

Posted on by Larry

DPP, a UK-based media business network, released a report last week looking at how production companies are using the Cloud in production. Consisting of ten case studies, they wanted to find out whether all the hype about the Cloud is actually shifting how production companies make content. (The research was sponsored by Avid and Dropbox.)

In their press release, DPP Managing Director Mark Harrison, stated: “People have been talking for a decade about how connected and cloud-led workflows could transform production processes. We wanted to find out if we have finally got to the point where technological maturity and business need have come together to make such a transformation possible. And the answer is they have.”

In the case studies, several common themes emerged:

“What is most striking about this incredibly diverse set of use cases is that each is motivated by a drive to be a more effective business,” says Harrison. “Ultimately these companies are seeking a competitive advantage.”

Here’s a link to learn more about DPP. Mark Harrison will also present the key findings at the HPA Tech Retreat in Palm Springs on February 20, 2020.
