FCP X: The Pleasantville Effect (Video)

[This is an excerpt from a recent PowerUP webinar: Color Correct a Scene in Final Cut Pro X, which you can download from our store. You can also access all our webinars by becoming a subscriber.]

This short video tutorial illustrates how to create the “Pleasantville effect” using Final Cut Pro X. In this movie, everything was black-and-white, except for individual elements in the frame.

Here, I show how to use a color mask to select just the red in a jacket, then a shape mask to isolate the actor’s face from the rest of the effect.

In this video training on Final Cut Pro X, you’ll learn how to combine masks with the color corrector to create visually interesting effects quickly and easily.
