Bill Clough is a retired journalist, having spent 60 years behind a viewfinder, a microphone or a keyboard. Mostly as a one-man band.
Bill writes: “When I was working for the Victoria Advocate (before it was sold), I was the video director. I did an evening newscast online but I depended for a lot of the video on the reporters. I used FACE to help them shoot their own video successfully. I also use it myself just to make sure I’ve got everything covered.”
The first acronym is for production: FACE
Bill continues: “I developed this next acronym for myself when I was doing a 15-minute tribute to my late brother-in-law. It was the largest video in my experience. I found that repeating this sequence was a help. Review is when everything is on the timeline and I start ‘tweaking’ everything I have done before.
The second is for video editing: CANTERS
Bill concludes: “Of course, as you well know, a video is NEVER finished. I recall hearing years ago that at the Louvre, guards have had to prevent artists from changing their paintings that are on exhibit. A painting is never finished either….”
Larry adds: Anything that can help us in shooting or editing is a good thing. Thanks, Bill, for sharing your techniques.
