Sebastian Guest asks:
Is it possible to use the keyboard to target audio tracks with a track number higher than 9?
Larry replies: No.
For tracks 1 – 9, there is a keyboard shortcut, but not higher numbered tracks.

2 Responses to Keyboard Shortcut: Targeting Tracks
Hi Larry,
I have been using your FCP Power Skills book and am getting a lot of valuable techniques from it.
There is one thing I cannot figure out though, as simple as it sounds. You write that clip tracks can be patched to timeline tracks by using F6 (or F7 or F8) followed by the number of the target track. My F keys are set to work within FCP (no need to press Fn – if I hit F9 it does an insert edit, etc.). But when I hit, say, F7 followed by the number 7, this does not put Clip a1 on a7 of my timeline. Instead, the number I put in changes the numbers in the timecode window at the top left of the timeline. Any ideas?
I am running FCP 7 under OS 10.8.2 on a 2.7GHz i5 iMac with 8GB RAM.
Best, Julian
I figured it out. Some of the audio tracks in the timeline weren’t set to the correct output tracks. Fixed that, now it works.
