New Features in Adobe Premiere Pro (Oct. 2020)
Adobe MAX, which ran from Oct. 20 – Oct. 22, saw the release of many upgrades for Adobe software. While the majority of new features were focused on still images and the web, Adobe Premiere Pro still got its share of goodies
The Oct. 2020 release (version 14.5) includes:
- Color management for ARRI ProRes
- Support for Rec. 2100 PQ color space.
- Import support for ProRes RAW
- ProRest RAW to Log color space conversion
- Improved playback with H.264 and HEVC media using GPU acceleration.
- Faster audio playback for large projects or projects that use a lot of audio effects.
While none of these are major features, they all underscore Adobe’s commitment to improving support for high-end video formats as the industry continues its expansion into HDR and raw media formats.

Premiere pro and Media Encoder both crash on startup. 16 core Mac Pro 2019, 64Gb ram, Radeon W5700x GPU,
WTF?
Brad:
Sigh… I’m sorry for this. It is SO frustrating.
I would contact Adobe Support – my guess is that something about either the app or the operating system is corrupted, but they should be able to get you fixed faster than me.
