[This is an excerpt from a recent PowerUP webinar: Create Killer Titles in Final Cut Pro X which you can download from our store. You can also access all our webinars by becoming a subscriber.]
This video tutorial illustrates how to use the text formatting built-into Final Cut Pro X titles. We have far more options than simply picking the font and size. We can create a single clip with individually styled words, even letters. We can fill text with colors or gradients. We can create outlines, glows, and drop shadows. And, best of all, we can save all our choices so that we don’t need to reinvent the wheel each time we need to style text.
In this video tutorial, I show you step-by-step how select, format, and style text; then how to save these creations for reuse.

I just discovered that many of the FCP X: Style Title Text are missing from version 10.1.2. It no longer has Chrome, Candy, Brushed Metal, Desert Sky, ect. Many of the cool text styles listed above just vanished, and no reason was given. Would like to get them back, but no sure if its possible.
Demode:
Interesting… Well, truth be told, I wasn’t a fan of most of those text styles in the first place.
Keep in mind that you can create and save your own text styles and they will appear in this menu.
