A "split edit" is where the audio and video edit at different times in the Timeline. Split edits are used extensively in dramatic film and video, where we are able to see one thing while hearing something different; yet still keep all clips in sync.

But, how do you create a split edit? And how can you modify it, once the edit is created? In this short video tutorial, Larry Jordan explains what split edits are and shows you a variety of ways to create and modify them in Final Cut Pro X, along with providing examples of where they can be really useful.
