I have been using capture now in FCP DV format and it captures everything OK. I switched to HDV and using capture now, it captures but it puts every thing in small packages. What can I do to set it to make it capture multiple shots in one segment?
I had a similar problem in DV and after I set limit capture now to 62 min it captured every thing OK.
Larry replies: Well, Anthony, as FCP moves to tapeless acquisition, it will capture each individual shot as a separate file. The days of capturing an entire tape as a single clip filled with different shots will disappear.
By default, HDV captures every shot as an individual clip. However, you can change this. In the Log and Capture window > Clip settings tab, uncheck the “Create new clip on Start/Stop” check box. Now, FCP will capture your HDV material as one long clip from In to Out.
Keep in mind, however, that if there is a timecode break, FCP will break the clip into separate clips — and timecode in HDV is notoriously unreliable.
