Apple Final Cut Pro X: Changes in version 10.3.3

Posted on by Larry

The latest update for Final Cut Pro (version 10.3.3) did not bring a lot of interface changes, but it did bring a few.

For example, by dragging the left edge of the Inspector, we can change the width of the Inspector to make it easier to read a full parameter name. However, we can’t drag it narrower than its width in the previous version of FCP X.

When we create new Roles or modify existing ones, a new diamond icon appears next to the word “Index” in the Timeline Index tab.

Apple’s release notes indicate that we have more color choices for Roles. However, from what I remember of the earlier version, we were able to change colors of roles there, too. So, I’m not sure what the difference is with this version.

BUGS FIXED

As the release notes indicate, this was principally a version to fix bugs – with a lot of emphasis on improving DVD burning:

I had given up on creating DVDs via FCPX several years ago when it just stopped working for me. I’ll have to give it shot again.

  2. Julian Salvadores says:

In Spanish version, “B” cutter is ona O and it don´t work.

  3. Brian Semple says:

Is there a simple way to add a simple audio cross dissolve? I just cannot work it out. I come from Avid, Premiere Pro where it is a very simple thing to do. Just wanted a simple drag and drop.
    Thanks

      Brian:

GREAT question! And, nope, I can’t find a way to add a simple audio dissolve without using the fade dots, unless the audio and video are not separated, in which case Cmd + T will add a video and audio dissolve.

      Weird.

FCPX stopped burning DVD’s. Mac Pro with superDrive and FCPX 10.3.3
    Any ideas how to fix?

  5. Amaru says:

I’ve never had a problem burning DVD’s from FCPX. It takes 20 hrs but the burn is solid.

  6. Michael says:

*sigh. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY has been able to help me figure out why the export shortcut (command E) suddenly stopped working on my FCPX and I just finished the 10.3.3 update to see if that would fix it…NOPE 🙁

    Any idea why that’s happening?

    • Larry says:

      Michael:

The default export shortcut (Cmd + E) is set in Preferences > Destinations.

Right-click (Control-Click) the setting you want to make the default in the LEFT column. Choose “Make Default”.)

Close the Preferences window and you are done. This setting will be reset whenever you trash FCP X preferences.
