MPEG Streamclip no longer works in Mac OS X 10.12 or later. In this short, video excerpt, Larry shows how to “rip,” or convert, media from a non-copy protected DVD into a video format suitable for editing, while preserving as much quality as possible.

MPEG Streamclip 1.9.2 still works on my OS X 10.12.6 iMac. You need to install the old MPEG2 QT plugin.

Good to know. I have MPEG Streamclip on my system, but when I upgraded to 10.12.x, the MPEG-2 plug-in was removed and I could not easily find it to reinstall.
In any case, the older plug-in will not continue working much longer, I suspect.

Hi Larry,
I found something called Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate which has an interface that looks exactly like the one you are using. Interesting. I had an older version from a company called Aimersoft I believe which was also using the same interface. The Wondershare has all the features that one could ever want.
You can also use Handbrake which is free and works great. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistle but it does a good job of converting a DVD.

I had previously created a separate partition on my main hard drive and installed El Capitan (10.11.6) on it. Now when I want to use Streamclip, I reboot from that partition and Streamclips works fine. That’s my workaround.
Fascinating! Raw DV Stream is alive and well! (I saw the .dv extension.) As opposed to DV in a QuickTime wrapper (.mov extension.)
