Joe St. Leger, from Dublin, writes:

I am working on a project in FCP Studio and am including some old film footage that was telecined to dv tape and captured from tape to G5. The old film is dirty in places. Not scratched, but hairs and blotches flash up on odd frames.

Is there some way to touch these up for final edit – similar to clone tool in Photoshop maybe. Any thoughts would be great.

Many thanks for your monthly newsletter – When are you coming back to Dublin?

Larry replies: Thanks for writing, Joe!

Actually, you CAN retouch these images directly in Photoshop. You will need Photoshop Extended CS3 or CS4. In fact, I created a video tutorial that shows you how.

By the way, I’ll be in Glasgow in February. We are still working out where else in the area we should go. If anyone has any ideas for England, Ireland or elsewhere, please let me know.
