A client contacted me recently about problems they were having in getting DVCPROHD to export to an HDV QuickTime movie. (They were archiving their DVCPROHD video on HDV tape, because they couldn’t afford a DVCPROHD deck.)
After some experimenting, here is the process we came up with:
- Select the sequences you want to convert to HDV. These need to be DVCPRO-HD in format.
- Select File > Batch Export
- Click the Set Destination button and select where you want the HDV movies to be stored
- Set the Format to QuickTime movie
- Set the settings to HDV 1080i/60
- Leave Naming blank
- Make sure the pop-up is set to Audio/Video
- CHECK Recompress all frames
- CHECK Make movie self-contained
- Click OK.
All selected sequences will be compressed using these settings. To start the export process, click the Export button in the lower center of this dialog box.
Files will take about theree-and-a-half times longer than real-time to export.
