When Final Cut Pro X starts to act squirrelly, the best trouble-shooting technique is to trash its preference files.
I’ve written about this a lot – for example, here. However, I haven’t created a video that shows how this works, until now.
In this video tutorial, I show you where Final Cut’s preference files are located, how to access them, and how and why to trash them. Along the way, I’ll illustrate the “Four Rules” of trashing preference files.
NOTE: This technique only applies to Final Cut Pro X, trashing preference files is not recommended as a general trouble-shooting technique for all applications.

2 Responses to FCP X: Trash Preferences [Video]
When Put a particular shot on timeline FCPX wants to keep rendering over and over again it reaches 100 and starts over. Orig. 2k Pro Res 444 using proxy both available on the shot. keeps rendering how can I fix this without affecting my edit?
All other shots working fine. Any advice would be appreciated.
Using FCPX 10.1.2 on Macbook Pro 2010 Mavericks
Aaron:
I’ve never heard of this problem, nor see a counter where FCP says how many times it has rendered a file.
I suggest contacting Apple Support.
