Jungle Power Introduces Eco-Friendly, Portable, Clean Production Power

Recently, Sydney, Australia-based Jungle Power launched a series of eco-friendly, on-location power generation systems. If you’ve ever choked through the exhaust powering a large film or remote video shoot, you’ll appreciate the benefits. To learn more, I emailed a series of questions to Mark Naidoo, CEO of Jungle Power.

Larry: Thanks for taking the time to answer these, Mark. To get started, how would you describe Jungle Power?

Mark: Jungle Power is all about bringing reliable, eco-friendly energy solutions to the film and media industry. We saw a need for quiet, sustainable power sources that wouldn’t disrupt production or harm the environment. Our focus is on delivering high-performance, portable energy systems that improve lighting and production workflows.

Larry: What challenges were you trying to solve with these products?

Mark: Traditional power sources, like combustible generators, create a lot of noise, pollution, and logistical challenges—especially for film productions that need to move between locations. We wanted to offer solutions that would address all of these pain points. Our products aim to make energy on set as quiet, clean, and easy to use as possible, allowing production teams to focus on their work without worrying about fumes, noise, or refueling logistics. With the JKD, adding solar to the mix for easy-up tents, or KD’s (knock-downs) as we call them down-under, was a no-brainer as a companion for the J5, targeting video-village and production services.

Larry: What did you release?

Mark: We recently launched the J80 Energy storage system (ESS), the J5 along with the JKD Solar Marquee. Each product is designed to meet the specific needs of on-location film and video production, from small, mobile setups to larger, energy-intensive scenes. Granted these products are not limited to this industry. These products will significantly benefit sectors such as entertainment and live events, as well as agriculture and construction.

Larry: What are the differences between them?

Mark: The J5 is our compact, portable 5kWh system, ideal for smaller shoots, video-villages, and camera departments. The J80 offers a much larger capacity at 80kWh, making it suitable for larger productions and high-demand setups; it’s also ideal for basecamps on larger productions. The JKD Solar Marquee is a solar-powered solution that provides 600W, and integrates seamlessly with the J5 for an entirely off-grid experience.

Larry: How should we decide which ones to use for our production?

Mark: It depends on your power needs and location. For smaller, mobile productions, the J5 should meet most requirements. Even for larger productions, the J5 has a place for more ‘decentralized lighting’ bringing power directly to the light, reducing cable runs to a central generator. If you’re handling a larger setup with multiple devices or need extended runtime, the J80 is a great choice. The JKD Solar Marquee is ideal for any production needing shelter, especially in remote and sunny settings.

Larry: How are they priced?

Mark: We are still finalizing our pricing – it will be announced in Q1. That said, it is designed to be competitive with traditional generators, especially when you factor in fuel savings and maintenance. Each product has a different price based on capacity and features, and we also offer rental options for productions that need short-term solutions.

Larry: Can these be rented and, if so, from whom?

Mark: Since we have just launched, we have not yet finalized rental partners. However, for sales enquiries, Maccam is our US Rep, TecArt for Australia and LCA for EU. Femmex is our community partner for sales outside the M&E space.

Larry: Productions travel all across the globe. How portable are these?

Mark: The J5 and JKD Solar Marquee are portable, keeping in mind it’s still 100KG for J5. I’d say this level of industrial equipment wouldn’t be ideal to travel with you across the globe. Having global accessibility of these products through rental houses is high on our priority list.

Larry: These are all measured in watts of output. How do we calculate our electrical load?

Mark: Calculating your load is a matter of adding up the wattage of each device you plan to run. Lights, cameras, and other equipment usually have their power requirements listed on the device or in the manual. We recommend totaling these to understand your peak wattage, then selecting a power solution that meets or exceeds that total for reliable performance.

Larry: What happens if we plug in too many devices?

Mark: Our systems are designed with built-in protections. If the power demand exceeds the system’s capacity, it will either safely shut down or limit power output to protect both the equipment and devices. Each circuit, outlet and inlet has isolators as well as an overall breaker for the battery. In addition, we have an emergency stop button. Our systems have been designed to meet the world’s highest electrical standards. We advise calculating your load beforehand to prevent overload and ensure optimal performance.

Larry: What key points do you want production teams to know about your new products?

Mark: First, our products are here to provide a true alternative to combustible generators, offering quiet, clean, and portable power. They’re designed with durability and simplicity in mind, making setup and able to operate optimally in the harshest conditions. Most importantly, Jungle Power systems allow production teams to operate sustainably without sacrificing power or reliability, supporting the industry’s push toward greener practices.

Larry: Mark, thanks for sharing your time.
