Will you cover how to flatten a FCP multicam timeline to send to Resolve? I learned there is a way using CommandPost but haven’t gotten into it.
Howard:
I’m not sure you need to flatten. Resovle handles multiple tracks and compound clips with no problem. Titles are not converted, but, generally titles are added in Final Cut during final export of the finished color grade.
What do you see that needs flattening?

Need to flatten FCPX multi-cam clips to reveal underlying original clip in order to refer back to raw clip in DVR.
In my case, braw camera files converted in DVR to ProRes that retain original source names in delivery to FCPX.
Roundtripping back to DVR from FCPX, a non-multi-cam ProRes clip will link back to braw clip it was converted from. Not so with multi-cam clips.
Supposedly, CommandPost can convert each clip in FCPX multi-cam timeline one-by-one to original Prores file. I haven’t figured out the command yet.

Thanks for mentioning multicam. I totally forgot to test that. And you are correct, FCP does not support native Blackmagic RAW files.

Hey, Larry did you ever end up trying multicam clips? My color grader is having a hard time in Resolve with my Final Cut multicam clips.

I haven’t tried these – due to a lack of time. I’ll take a look, in the meantime, though, I recommend contacting Resolve support.
