Have overexposure issues with Sony 4K XAVC QFHD footage, what’s a good way to fix in FCP?

Sigh… There’s no good news here. XAVC is an 8-bit codec, unlike some RAW or LOG formats. Once highlight detail is lost (i.e. overexposed) there’s no way to get it back.
