SESSION DESCRIPTION

Over the last month, we asked audio editors to send in photos of the audio gear they use, typical production environments, their challenges, and tips to better audio. Eleven audio editors responded with images, stories and workflows that span from one-man-band to studio.

Larry Jordan then turned their comments and images into a detailed presentation showcasing the specific gear and techniques they use to record high-quality audio in the field today. These techniques apply to anyone in media production.

The contributing editors are:

  • Björn Obenius
  • Cliff Elliott
  • Greg Popp
  • Jason Nou
  • Jeff Johnson
  • Jon Gay
  • Mark Hovater
  • Michael Keeping
  • Patrick Flaherty
  • Philippe Neron
  • Scott Newell

In addition to the photos and comments from these editors, Larry details the specs of all the gear they highlight, plus provides a summary of the most popular gear for professional use based on their examples.

AUDIENCE LEVEL

This is a survey of audio gear and techniques. No audio experience is required, but an understanding of basic audio terminology will be helpful. This applies to all production and post-production workflows.
