COURSE DESCRIPTION

Virtual Reality – what is it? Is it a threat or opportunity? And what do filmmakers need to know today to get started?

360/VR is one of three categories of VR and the one that will be most accessible to traditional filmmakers. While 360/VR won’t replace traditional filmmaking, it can create some amazing experiences. And in these competitive days, having something new to offer clients is always a good idea.

Join Larry Jordan as he provides an overview of 360/VR, then illustrates what working with 360/VR is actually like in both Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Apple Final Cut Pro X. This session covers:

  • An overview of what VR is, and isn’t
  • The benefits and limitations of 360/VR
  • Media management for 360/VR
  • Shooting 360/VR
  • Processing 360/VR – stitching, trimming and exporting
  • Editing 360/VR in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019
  • Editing 360/VR in Apple Final Cut Pro X

This session won’t teach you how to tell stories using VR, but it will give you a solid grounding on how to produce, shoot, process and edit VR video to create new experiences for both clients and audiences.

AUDIENCE LEVEL

While this does not require any knowledge of 360/VR or VR gear, once this gets into editing in Premiere and Final Cut, some knowledge of those applications will be helpful. This session is delivered as a single QuickTime movie.
