Changing clip speed (also called “retiming”) can create dramatic effects – from high-speed time-lapse to extreme slow motion. Final Cut Pro X provides a wide-variety of techniques to change the speed of a clip, including:

  • Freeze frames and hold frames
  • Replace and Retime a Clip to Fit
  • Fast- and Slow-motion
  • Conform clip speed
  • Variable speed changes
  • Special speed effects

During this session, Larry Jordan illustrates dozens of ways to change the speed of a clip, starting with a very simple hold frame in the Timeline, then moving into far more flexible – and weird – speed effects.

Whether you need to stop the action, create a dramatic moment, or add some comic relief, the speed options in Final Cut give you all the tools you need. And this webinar shows you how to put them to work.

This intermediate-level session assumes a basic familiarity with Final Cut Pro X, but does not require any knowledge of how to create effects. (This session is delivered as a QuickTime movie.)
