TRAINING DESCRIPTION
Roles are a new concept in video editing. Introduced with the 10.0.3 update to Final Cut Pro X, Roles allow you to tag similar clips so that you can work with subgroups of your clips based on the tag, not the track.
For example, you could create a single project containing Spanish, French, and English titles. Using Roles you can instantly switch from one language to another, simply by selecting the appropriate Role in the Timeline Index. Rather than creating three almost identical projects, you now create one and manage which titles are displayed using Roles.
In this video training session, you’ll learn how to use Roles to organize clips in the Event Browser, how to use the Timeline Index to find and display Roles, and how Roles can provide both speed and flexibility when exporting projects; including the ability to automatically create submixes, or “stems,” of your audio.
In this video tutorial, you will learn:
- What Roles are and the rules that govern them
- How to create and customize Roles
- How to apply a Role to a clip, or group of clips
- How to use the Timeline Index to manage Roles
- How to use Roles in exporting to provide multiple versions of the same project
- And much, much more.
AUDIENCE LEVEL
This intermediate-level webinar is designed for Final Cut Pro X editors who want to use the power and flexibility of Roles to organize larger, more complex projects. (You only need the ability to play QuickTime movies to watch this training.)
BONUS FEATURE!
To help you quickly find the information you need, we included chapter markers in the QuickTime movie for easy navigation. Click here to learn how to display them in your download.
