Topic: Normalizing Audio Clips in Final Cut Pro 6 & 7

This is part of our new HD-series of tutorials — containing larger, easier-to-read screens at 1280 x 720 resolution!

Setting audio levels to achieve a good listening volume is important. Avoiding distortion is even more important. The problem with simply dragging the red rubber bands in the Timeline to set levels in Final Cut is that changing the volume is no guarantee your audio won’t distort.

Instead, you need to use a different technique: normalization. Normalization, properly used, guarantees that your audio won’t distort during output or export.
