TRAINING DESCRIPTION

Compression is the unsung work-horse of video production today. Its a subject filled with arcane terminology and most editors try to avoid thinking about it. But video compression is the last stage of a long process – and what you do here directly affects what viewers see when they watch your program.

Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (AME) is at the core of much of Adobe Production Premium. Prelude uses it for transcodes. Premiere and After Effects use it for compressing sequences and comps. And Encore uses it to create both DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. This session explains what AME is, how it compares to Apple’s Compressor, and how you can use it to simplify video compression and, in fact, automate the entire process.

In this video tutorial, you will learn:

  • What Adobe Media Encoder is
  • What it does well and what it lacks
  • How to create a simple video compression
  • How to create a custom compression preset
  • How to set a default compression destination
  • How to set up and run Watch Folders

AUDIENCE LEVEL

This webinar is designed for editors working with Adobe Production Premium software to better understand video compression and how Adobe Media Encoder works. (You don’t need to own Adobe Media Encoder to watch this session.)
