ff-Works is a front-end to ffMPEG, a highly-regarded, open-source compression engine. When you combine ff-Works with ffMPEG, you get a very powerful, very flexible, very high quality media transcoding/compression tool.  In this session, Larry Jordan shows how to use this software.

    Larry, I like how your tutorials don’t just give the “what”, but also the “Why”.

    Speaking of “why”, why would I use this over, say, Apple Compressor or Adobe Media Encoder, if I already have those? Are there particular use cases where ffworks/ffmpeg is superior in some way?

      As I mentioned in the webinar and illustrated in the article, ff-Works in most cases creates higher quality compressed images, with much smaller file sizes.

  2. I have been using ff-Works since it was iFFmpeg which is a very long time. I never bought the New Compressor for FCPX as iFFmeg met my needs. I have Encoder as well but prefer ff-Works. I use the presets a lot. I have created new ones for the most used by me.
