No audio on Dan’s side of the interview
Matt and everyone else:
Sigh.. I screwed up. This video went through multiple updates and with the last one, the audio disappeared. I don’t know why.
Unfortunately, I forgot to check it. I’ll get this fixed later today.
Sorry, Larry
UPDATE:
The audio is fixed and the video is uploaded. But it takes a few minutes for CloudFront – our streaming service – to recognize the new video. If this doesn’t play, come back in ten minutes.
Sorry for the problems,
Larry
Anxious to hear what Dan says but still seeing black screen?
Bob:
Yeah. I needed to upload a new version and it takes CloudFront – our streaming service – a while to latch onto it. The issue is at the server, and there’s not a lot I can do to speed it up.
Dan is worth hearing. The wait is worth it.
Larry
The headset mics worked very well and nicely positioned away from the camera so that the whole face is visible without the ‘slug’ on the cheek ! Why do many set ups get this so wrong ! Great interviews, pics and audio.
Chris:
Thanks! Yeah, we worked really hard to position the mics to minimize boom shadows on the guest’s chin. Also, far too often, audio is an after-thought – these interviews were designed from the start with headsets in mind, for exactly the reason to avoiding hiding someone’s face.
Larry
Great production value, Larry. The headsets/mics worked well. The lighting and sound were perfect, with no disruptive ambient noise. Was that due to filming in an enclosure or removed in post? Your questions were exactly what I wanted to hear from Dan. Oh, and you looked fantastic on camera! (Most important :-))
Richard:
Indeed, very, very important. Smile…
The mics were designed to reduce room noise, so I didn’t need to use any noise reduction software in post. We were not in an enclosure, we were right on the floor itself – but with flags overhead to block the ceiling lights. I’ll pass on your compliments on lighting to Chris, who gets full credit.
Larry
Great interview, Larry!
You could talk to Dan all day, and I could listen to him all day.
Thanks.
Gregg:
Yeah, I have the same reaction. He’s a knowledgeable guy.
Larry
Great interview, Larry! Image looks beautiful. Can I ask what you’re shooting with these days? And glass? Thanks for all that you do for the filmmaking community:)
Best,
Sean
Sean:
I have lots of details. Read these two, especially the comments.

I’ve followed you for many years Larry. Love your work! Here I am 10 years into retirement but still love the new gear (or at least the announcements)—many thanks.
Mal:
Happy retirement! And, yeah, new gear is always fun to learn and dream about.
